Where I come from, we would RP by placing our cursors on different parts of the collective page and typing in different colours. Our RPs would get hopelessly disorganized and mixed with OOC, and when we got mad at each other, we would put our cursors in the middle of each other's paragraphs and type R)(!*)$ANDOM S%T)@UFF in the middle of them. Then I found out (a little late) that there was a big website just for RPing, with all these features and people and I...immigrated. There's no turning back now!
As for what RPs I like, I don't mind stretching the limits of reality, but high fantasy and all its cliches and conventions makes me want to barf, and I'm really getting tired of vampires too, and werewolves are ugly...no idea why anyone thinks they're sexy. My favourite book is 1984 and I RP dystopian. Modern, fantasy, SciFi; as long as it's dystopian and not cliche, I'll love it. Secret government prisons w/ torture, human experimentation, highly controlled brainwashed societies, subjugation with drugs...
Why? Because I lived in such an environment until recently and it's the only way I know how to think. I must relive the horror over and over until I get it right, but not literally. Not in the invisible, unspeakable way it was. Roleplaying that would just give me PTSD flashbacks. I use exotic lands and distant times to figure out my past. Stories of dignity in the most hopeless of conditions. Finding truth in affliction.
I'm an experienced GM and literate RPer (albeit in the star systems of Google Docs and IMVU) and I'm trying to find enough people to start an RP. Check out my idea: all-fair-love-and-war-updated-t81707.html
