College baseball roundup: ORU, OU fall; OSU wins in 10

Kurt Giller started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and tossed two scoreless innings. The Shockers broke through with four runs in the bottom of the third, however, and 10 ORU pitchers were used in the game, with Phillip Wilson (0-1) picking up the loss in his third appearance.

Logan Domenico and Matt Brandy had the only hits for ORU (5-6). Domenico's one-out single to center in the bottom of the sixth inning broke up a no-hitter by Wichita State's A.J. Ladwig.

The Golden Eagles finally got on the board in the top of the seventh as Brandy doubled over the center fielder's head to lead off the inning. He took third as Tyler Boss flew out to deep right center and scored on Chris Williams' groundout to third.

The Shockers (6-4) picked up their first home victory of the season.

The teams will play again in Wichita on April 24, making up a game that was postponed due to snow on Feb. 26.

The Golden Eagles will host Dallas Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Friday for the first of a three game set at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

OSU 5, Missouri State 4 (10 innings): In Stillwater, Randy McCurry drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Oklahoma State past Missouri State at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

The Cowboys (10-2) snapped a five-game losing streak against Missouri State (7-3), which dated to 2010.

OSU trailed 4-2 going into the bottom of the eighth, but it loaded the bases with no outs following two walks and a single. The Cowboys tied the score on consecutive sacrifice flies by pinch-hitter Aaron Cornell and center fielder Jarrett Higgins.

In the bottom of the 10th, Gage Green led off with a walk. After Donnie Walton was hit by a pitch, Higgins delivered a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. Craig McConaughy struck out for the first out of the inning, but McCurry worked the count full against reliever Erik Shannahan before walking to bring home the winning run.

UT-Arlington 6, OU 1: In Arlington, Texas, No. 10 Oklahoma was held scoreless until the sixth inning in the loss.

The Mavericks scored twice in the second before extending their lead with three in the bottom of the fifth. Jack Mayfield scored the Sooners' run in the top of the sixth as he walked with one out, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a fly out and scored on a wild pitch.

UT-Arlington (8-4) added its final run in the eighth.

Ethan Carnes suffered his first loss of the season for the Sooners (11-2) as he lasted just two innings, allowing two runs on four hits.

Oklahoma will take a trip to Los Angeles later this week, visiting USC on Friday.
